I was commissioned by JOYRICH Clothing to shoot one of their sale events for a video to be made by マキ テッペ. The video consists of footage shot by Teppei as well as Shino and myself. You can view the photos I shot here. The video is unique in that there’s a random generator which alternates the start and endpoints so you are never looking at the same footage more than one time so its worth playing back a few times to get the full “picture”!
UPDATE: Looks like the video is making its way to Korea! Check it!
You have time to do things like rest, rest, oh, and then when its time to actually wake up and start walking to stretch you realize its a great time to setup a new tempered bath setup for your slide film processing. Thanks to Ray for the coffee mug heater, pump, and (borrowed) “A” clamp. I would like to get well now…
Note: Its probably NOT a good idea to “flash” photosensitive chemicals before use
This year MURUA appeared at Tokyo Girls Collection (東京ガールズコレクション); a semiannual fashion festival launched in 2005. The fashion event showcases the seasons fashionable streetwear by domestic brands, and are modeled by popular models from various Japanese fashion magazines. The event is open not only to buyers and journalists, but also to the general public.
I was asked to do the photography for their models’ backdrops on the catwalk. Here are a few of the photos. Not many can be seen in their original size unless you view the original gallery here. Its an exciting event for me because my name was featured prominently behind the models thanks to MURUA’s design staff! You can read more on pages 1, 2, and 3!
I was in the market for a new film dryer but nothing seemed to fit my style (or office space) so I decided to try and build a new one. The results are fantastic. If I weren’t so busy shooting and processing I would try to market this.
For those of you who don’t know, I do all of my own processing, printing, scanning, etc. Why? Edward Weston once said that there’s not much money in being a one man studio but that every photographer should fully understand every step of the photographic process from start to finish. This is because a true artist already sees the final print on the ground glass (and his/her mind) before exposure. In order to produce results on paper that match what the photographer sees, he/she must understand the in’s and out’s of every nuance of the photographic process in order to produce results that are in alignment with his or her original vision.
A friend did a funny job of documenting a recent shoot. I think the shot with the cat is the best. Usually I am allergic to them but this particular cat didn’t bother me.
Ilán here… I’ve been shooting for The Alphabet Project UK for a while now and its about time I post that on this site. Check out some of my work that’s been in circulation now within a few galleries and sites. Its interesting stuff. I’m also in communication with Rippled Thoughts where I’ll be publishing some street photography. Look forward to an update on that soon.
I’ve taken a step into video production and I would call it nothing less than a success. Head on over to youtube and check out the video. Be sure to click the view in high quality link as the standard YouTube compression doesn’t do it justice. The film was shot and directed as well as the audio recorded by yours truly.Enjoy!
A 22 hour shoot is no easy task. I recently shot a well known asian pop singer to support an upcoming record release. Using bars and restaurants in downtown Los Angeles along with a studio for headshots, we were able to cram everything into one long shoot that started at 5:00am and ended at 3:00am the next morning. Using a combination of film and digital to get through 5 wardrobes and styling changes, the shoot was a success. Stay tuned for some of the work which i’ll post online.
